Growing Edges becoming Sustainable

How You Can Help!

Girdwood Chapel’s mission is to Love God, Love Others, and Change the World. Our commitment to this mission has seen our ministries and our church grow. Now, we need your help. We have been gifted an opportunity that will provide stability and free up needed resources to live into our mission for years to come. Read on for more information and pictures of our ministry!

We serve our neighbors in Girdwood and from all around Turnagain Arm through our food pantry (in partnership with Food Bank of Alaska), our community garden, homework haven for high school students, teens nights, day camps for elementary students during school in-service days…. As the only church in our small town with a resident pastor, we also know that we are a key resource for families and individuals in times of crisis and need. Our pastor walks alongside members of the community facing homelessness, food insecurity, addictions, mental illness, and in times of tragedy. Our pastor also accompanies our community’s emergency responders in their critical and emotionally heavy work.

As we have been attentive to God’s Spirit guiding us, our church and our mission have grown. Along with that growth has come an opportunity. In May 2019 Girdwood Chapel was gifted a small cabin to be moved and placed on our property. This cabin gift will become temporary housing for our pastor while we build a permanent parsonage. Securing paid-for housing will free up resources to be devoted to the ministries through which we live into our mission to Love God, to Love Others, and to Change the World.

That is down from a gap of $75,000 last fall. THANK YOU to all our supporters so far. To join them and give, please visit girdwoodchapel.com/give and select “parsonage fund.”
